Meet the Dental Team

Robert T. Kelly DDS

Dr. Kelly is a native of Wilmington. He attended local schools and graduated from New Hanover High in 1969. There, he won academic honors and lettered in golf, tennis, and basketball. He was a member of the 1968 State Championship 4A Basketball team.

In 1973 Dr. Kelly graduated from Davidson College. Following college he went to dental school at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Kelly completed a two year residency program in Pediatric Dentistry at Emory University School of Dentistry. He then returned to Wilmington to practice pediatric dentistry.

During the summer of 2011, Dr. William (Bob) Cherry III will be joining Dr. Kelly’s practice. Dr. Cherry is also a Wilmington native who graduated from New Hanover High. He graduated from both undergraduate and dental school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Cherry is currently training with the Pediatric Dental Residency program at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry.

William R. Cherry III DDS

Dr. Cherry was born and raised in Wilmington. He and his two sisters we patients of my practice for many years. Dr. Cherry is a 2008 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry, where he later completed his Pediatric Dental Residency in 2011. Dr. Cherry has four years of Clinical Experience.

Dr. Cherry and his wife live in Wilmington and have three children, ages two months, two years, and five-years-old. Dr. Cherry will be assuming my practice at its current location effective today. The office telephone number will remail the same and the office and clinical staff will also continue with Dr. Cherry. I will also be in the office to help with the transition through the spring of 2013.

Dr. Kelly’s  staff consists of:

  • Two dental hygienists with a combined 36 years of service with Dr. Kelly.
  • Three Certified Dental Assistants with a combined 40 years of service with Dr. Kelly.
  • Three office personnel who handle reception and insurance duties with a combined 46 year of experience.
