For a top-notch smile and oral health, you need to keep up on oral hygiene. This means you need to properly and effectively clean your teeth and gums each day. Unfortunately, if you don’t include every task in your routine or if you perform a task improperly, your smile can pay the consequences. So, to help you avoid this problem, our dentist, Dr. Jim Kelly, is happy to tell you all about the steps that should be included in your morning and night oral hygiene routines.
Morning routine
-Brush your teeth with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Make sure to brush for two minutes and make sure not to brush too hard. After cleaning your teeth, scrub your tongue.
-Rinse your mouth with antibacterial or fluoride mouthwash if you would like an even more pristine breath. It doesn’t matter when you rinse your mouth, it’s just important to rinse at least once a day.
Night routine
-Brush your teeth for two minutes once again. Use the same toothbrush and toothpaste as you did in your morning routine. Make sure to thoroughly clean every tooth in the mouth. Scrub the tongue after you have scrubbed the teeth.
-Floss your teeth with a flossing tool that is easy to maneuver. Make sure not to force the floss between the teeth because that can irritate and harm the gums. Be thorough while cleaning between the teeth and along the gumline.
-Rinse your mouth with mouthwash if you didn’t rinse in the morning, if you want a fresh breath, and if you want to complete the cleaning job.
