How to Care for Your Teeth and Gums While You Take Trips

Posted .

Traveling can be extremely busy, but it should never be so busy that you forget to take care of your smile. You should always clean your teeth and gums, even while you take trips. So, to help you keep your smile in tip-top shape while you take adventures and see the world, Dr. Jim Kelly and our dental team have some tips and information for you.

First, brush your teeth twice a day. Make sure to brush for two minutes each time—preferably once in the morning and once at night. As you brush, use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Make sure you thoroughly scrub each tooth and you scrub the surface of your tongue when you’re done.

Second, floss your smile at least once a day. As you floss, scrape the sides of each tooth and remove the plaque that lives there. Be gentle along the gumline as you clean the cracks between your teeth. You can use a flossing product of your choice to clean your smile.

Third, pack travel-sized oral hygiene tools. The travel-sized toothbrush is beneficial while traveling because it’s little and it doesn’t take too much room in your suitcase. The travel-sized toothpaste can be beneficial while flying a plane. This is because it typically meets the weight requirements of 3.4 ounces. When it comes to floss, don’t worry too much about the size. You can pack a product of your choice.

If you use our tips and do what you can to clean your smile on a regular basis while you’re on the road, you’ll continue to have a strong and successful oral health.
